Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV
We know this scripture...right? But what does it mean in everyday life? How are we to press?
In running a race, the worse thing we can do is to look back to see who is behind us. Our focus is off. We cannot put our "all" into the race when we lose focus. And...we lose focus when we take our eyes off the finish line. In fact, looking back is being double-minded. And James says you get nothing from God when you become double-minded.
What are we looking back at anyway? Our past? Our memories? The good 'ole days? There is nothing there. Our future is in the front, not behind. Looking back is the breeding ground for fear. And the Body of Christ needs to be as strong as it has ever been. We have a job to do... "seek and save those who are lost." Luke 19:10
We have a quest to be about Father's Business. We have an obligation to fight evil and the spread of globalization that is trying to dominate our world right now. We have no time to look back. We have a quest to only "press" as Paul did. He didn't have time to look back. And neither do we.
I encourage us all to be bold. To stand tall. To press into God and His assignments for us. We don't have time to take our eyes off of those assignments. Join me on this quest. Let's change the world. Let's do it today. Let's not look back.
